After a solid day of walking and shopping at the Rocklin Commons and Rocklin Crossings, Sushi Kakogan is where the lady and I stop by to get our weekly fix of great sushi. Besides the good food, Sushi Kakogan is a fun place. The staff at Sushi Kakogan know how to have a good time. They are frequently dishing out free shots of Sake to the patrons, which is fine by me.
From the outside, you aren’t going to be wowed. Sushi Kakogan is in a strip mall of sorts in the older part of Rocklin. It isn’t like hanging out at Mukinis at the Fountains, but what can we say? fun place + great staff + tasty food = The perfect sushi spot any day of the week.

If you’re a Jalapeno lover and enjoy tempura then you will love Sushi Kakogan’s Jalapeno Tempura and Two Spoons Sashimi appetizer. For just $4 you can get a nice size serving of fried Jalapenos. The tempura batter is super crispy and the Jalapenos are cut fairly thin. I probably order this dish twice a month – they never get old.
While you’re there, if you like sashimi, you should consider ordering the Two Spoons appetizer which is absolutely delicious. Soup sized spoons are layered with chunks of sashimi grade fish, avocado, other yummy goodness – and drizzled with ponzu sauce. I typically request fresh chopped Jalapeno on my spoons. You get two spoons for $6 – it’s a heck of a deal.
